What is my current topic?
Current topic: Anonymity should be granted in cyberspace.
-Development of technology enabled the commercialization of internet space since its invention.
-With cyberspace now being so easy to access and forming a significant part of our lives, it brought on many problems. (ex: Cyberbullying, internet scam, etc)
-To ease these matter, governments and those in charge of regulating the internet decided to legislate laws on revealing our identities on the internet.
-They claimed, that by having people post online with their names known, people will become responsible for their actions.
-However, there are also those not in favor of relieving people of their anonymity in cyberspace, who pose valid and logical arguments for allowing cyberspace users to protect their personal information that they did not choose to disclose.
- Both Anonymity and disclosure have their respecitve advantages and disadvantages.
What are my guiding questions?
-What were the situation like before having people to reveal their information on the internet?
-Did some things improve when people used their real names on the internet?
-What were the drawbacks of using real names on the internet?
-How did people abuse others' open information on the internet?
-Should people be given a choice on whether to disclose their names and their information?
What are my current thoughts?
*What do you already know about your topic?
-It was not until the 21st century that the Korean National Congress passed a law to open some information on the internet.
-There have been cases of identity thefts, more fake IDs out for sale, more hacks and scams going on with more access to others' information.
-Revealing names on the internet is also being discussed in other nations, some of which are already taking steps to implement the following measure.
-Internet is an open source, a world very much unlike the physical one.
-More private datas and informations are stored online than ever.
-It has been proven that civilian hackers do have the capability of breaking into databases of high security, even those owned and managed by the government.
What are your opinions?
-Anonymity do have certain limits, but it should be granted in cyberspace for the better good in long term.
What do you want to persuade people of?*
-Anonymity is not always negative, and it has to be granted online to prevent even more harm.
What is the opposition?
-Without revealing our names on the internet, more cyberbullying will take place
-It is harder to track down offenders on the internet wihout their names.
-Many choose to abuse the right for anonymity given to them.
-Internet is not fully controlled through regulations and rules, and some rein has to be put on individuals to prevent abuse.
